How to Prevent Fleas and Ticks?

Fleas and ticks can be found on your pets all year round no matter the season. There are seasons that are far more common in terms of the presence of fleas and ticks. During the spring and summer months they are far more common and can cause a great deal of trouble for your pets. There are a few different treatments that can help remove fleas and ticks and knowing what treatment is going to work best is the most effective way to get your pets feeling great.

Flea dips are a great way to treat current flea infestations as it helps to smother the fleas that are already alive and moving around on your pet and it also gets rid of the eggs and larvae that might be present as well. With those that do not presently have fleas or that are looking to prevent them, you can always have your vet prescribe a topical flea treatment or a pill that can help to prevent fleas. With pets that are dealing with fleas, it is always best to take the time to find a treatment that is going to work specifically for your pet and for the type of infestation that they are dealing with. Topical treatment is great for prevention but for treating current infestations, more intense treatment at the vet may be needed.

What do Fleas and Ticks Cause in Pets?

Fleas and ticks are a very common pest that can cause a huge range of trouble for your pets. They can cause anemia from taking too much blood from your pet, they can transmit disease, they can make your pet itch and scratch, they can cause skin lesions and skin infections as well. Fleas and ticks can cause death if they are untreated long enough and they can make your pet miserable as far as their overall comfort is concerned.

Pets can also transmit fleas and ticks to you and your family and can also cause infestations that cost a great deal of money to treat in your home. Pets are our family and making sure they are free of fleas and ticks is a must. With the right vet, flea treatment does not have to be painful or scary for your pet.
